Plans for Post- Election? Thoughts on moving?
Hey Guys,
I know this is a very stressful time for everyone but I just wanted to Ask this and get some insight on what everyone’s plans are after the Election. So my birthday is Nov 2nd- the day before elections and I will be the big 30!! This year has been so stressful with corona plus the election but like most, I am staying strong and hopeful. I don’t have any kids and unfortunately the whole marriage thing just hasn’t happened for me yet. I have been lucky to have a decent paying job in healthcare and I was able to successfully open my own business this year. While we anticipate the next most stressful 8 days that will determine all of our future, I couldn’t help but start planning what I will do. I promised myself that no matter if Trump or Biden wins, I don’t want to sit around in fear and let these people determine my future. I have been here in the US since I was 13 years old and now I will be 30 in 7 days. My biggest wish for my bday this year was for me to move and purchase my own house. I live here in California and I feel like I am holding myself back from my full potential due to the extremely high cost of living out here. I have narrowed my choices of moving down to Florida, Texas or Georgia. This is a big decision because I feel like the south is more racist and biased when it comes to immigrants (I lived in Texas for 3 years). I haven’t had any serious issues with my documentation here in Cali and getting a job doesn’t seem very difficult since I work in healthcare, has anyone successfully purchased a house on their own or planning to move and do the same??? I would love some thoughts on this as I feel that as Daca recipients depending on whether Biden wins and gives us Citizenship is gonna be a long, tedious journey and the chances of it actually happening is far from realistic. My other option is, if trump wins, my only way out is through marriage to USC. |

I'm hoping Biden wins and Dems take the Senate because we will get a path to citizenship or at the very least be able to get DACA solidified in law and not have to worry again. I will live my life without worry.
If Trump wins, I have no plan. |

If dems win the senate, they would have to be willing to use the Nuclear option on Immigration and not screw it up with infighting among themselves. Sixty votes is a big hurdle and I just hope we don't have another symbolic vote ahead of us.

My husband’s 601-A waiver was recently approved last month. We’re waiting to see what happens next year to reschedule the interview in El Salvador. Other than that, we don’t really have any backup plans...

If Democrats take the Senate, there will be a lot of pressure on them to get rid of the filibuster (which is a Senate rule that requires 60 senators to vote to stop debate on a bill). A lot of bills that have broad democratic support including Immigration reform could pass on a simple majority vote.

To continue saving money, try to finish paying off my car. Finish school and hope for the best and be ready for the worst.

I've had my plans in motion 2019, you can't rely on these politicians for anything, we are just pawns that they use and reuse whenever they need a political sacrifice. After years of just passing by with just a work permit, I had my interview for a family petition in Jan of 2020, and, soon Jan of 2021, I will have my court appearance to administratively close my case with the courts and get my green card. Anyone that has the ability to try to get a green card whether their are some risk or not should take the risk. Its better than doing nothing and just waiting and waiting.
