Will the recent migrant crisis affect hopes of immigration reform?

With all the news on more people trying to cross the border recently, do you guys think it will affect immigration reform? Will it reduce chances of a bill being passed for dreamers, and those with TPS already here?

Yes, it was an uphill battle before but the situation at the border is lowering support for any immigration bills to pass. It will also feed the amnesty fever and add additional talking points to the immigration hawks. It also makes the cost of any immigration bill more expensive, from the perspective of Republican demands... Republicans will ask for more to push the bill to the far right.

This will cause immigration reform not to happen, and us not getting anything again.

Only mass deportations will happen like it happened with Obama.

Not looking good. This fit right into GOP's talking point, CIR/ DACA will not fix the issue, they will only attract more people to come illegally.

I don't see how Democrats can win on this issue. You have a lot of unemployed Americans right now, taking more people into the country will only hurt democrats.

Honestly with the migrant caravan of yesteryear that started coming in 2016, stopped once Trump got elected, stood around drinking beer for 4 years, and started coming again in 2020 until COVID happened I really don't believe the right-wingers here.

In 4 years maintaining a somewhat leisurely pace you could walk from Cape Town, South Africa to Vladivostok, Russia.

The correct solution is here the 3Ds: Deny, Debunk, Discredit.

Naw, if you think about it. Trump secured the border without giving anything to the Dems in return. This is a way to get some leverage back.

Honestly this would be funny to run with "There's no crisis, after all Trump build his wall, right?"
