Unpaid speeding tickets/ possible warrant DACA renewal?
So I have unpaid traffic tickets due to losing the paperwork in a car crash and the papers being completely destroyed. I have sent in my renewal and have received the letter saying my biometrics will be reused.. this was 2 weeks ago. Has anybody been in a similar situation and what was your outcome? thank you

If you live in CT , here's the link : https://portal.ct.gov/DMV/General/Ho...and-Violations If you don't live in CT , just google "YOUR STATE traffic ticket". If that doesn't work , find some time to go to your nearest civil courthouse. They have ways to pull up your info there so you can fix your situation. I suggest you take care of those tickets asap. You can talk to the local magistrate and he will probably give you 50% off on those ( if he's in a good mood). Otherwise, those tickets will accrue more fees and then get more serious and result into a driver's license suspension - and you don't want that in your record. |

You've had all this time to fix your issues with unsettled violations.

Don't fuck around with a warrant. Call the court and explain what happened and ask them what you need to do to fix it. Get a traffic lawyer if you have to - they're relatively cheap (well at least compared to immigration lawyers).
The last thing you need is to get pulled over for having a brake light out and get thrown in jail and have an arrest on your record. |

If you just looked up for warrants in those states , that's not diligent enough. You need to find out what happened to your speeding tickets. You need to find in which jurisdiction did you fall into and that's associated to the closest town near the highway you were stopped. Also, if you were stopped by a state trooper then your ticket is under the jurisdiction of the state - not the local police dept. so it's a different beast. You need to figure out what/who you are dealing with. Start by contacting the local police dept near where you stopped. Contact the state police of where you were stopped as well. Try giving them the date and time of the speeding ticket (if you remember), your license info, your car plate, the officer's name who gave you the ticket ( if you can remember). If you can find them, settle them and the matter is resolved. If you don't , it will eventually get to you. This can turn out very ugly. You need to be very thorough in your search and I can't tell how thorough you were if you don't tell us what you did in your search efforts. If you have dirt under your name, you have to go after it and clean it up asap. Don't be passive and do a half baked search and expect them to come at you because sometimes, they won't. Some courthouses are staffed with lazy crooks. They won't make a decent effort at notifying you of your ticket. They will let people's tickets sit unpaid and balloon in size by tacking all sorts of fees to them. |

To my recollection is was not state troopers but local police I do not have any information other than the states I was in as I was driving down, and obviously my own info. My license was valid up until my DACA ran out and is now just expired NOT suspended. |
