Best place to get a U.S Passport size photo?
 

I don’t mind paying extra. I have CVS/Walgreens in mind.

As long as I can get a good snap of my choice.

If you need a physical photo, then, yeah, CVS/Walgreens or any of the brick and mortar spots would be ideal.

If not, then there are many apps in both the Android and Apple app stores which can take pics for you. Just need to have a white or off-white wall and the app should crop and rotate even to get you an official passport certified photo.

It’s risky to take it from phone due to compliance issues. Why take a chance? My walls aren’t white.

I mean taking a passport pic isn't rocket science nor does it require high tech gear to do. It's literally just a combination of dimensional and physical constraints. Head posture, background color etc.

Before the age of smartphones, people had to go to CVS/Walgreens. But they didn't have some magic machine to spit out pics. They were just taking pics with consumer level digital cameras and editing on software.

Now there are passport/document pics specific apps that do all that because most smartphones have a camera that is way more than sufficient for the pic and the app does the cropping and all the rest of the jazz.

But if your sentiment is "why take a chance", then why even ask in a forum. You know the "safe" places are CVS/Walgreens.

Yep. Haven't had a problem whatsoever. Also people use apps on smartphones catered to government photos all the time. Again, as long as the dimensional and physical requirements are met, it's the same thing at the end.

I used FedEx. $14.95 plus tax. They were patient and no customers either. I am happy with it. This will be for certification of naturalization. I will have to take additional for the passport.
