New DACA executive action, is DACA being exapnded???
https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-...lies-together/
I wonder what and other Dreamers mean, is DACA being expanded???? Easing the Visa Process for U.S. College Graduates, Including Dreamers Today’s announcement will allow individuals, including DACA recipients and other Dreamers, who have earned a degree at an accredited U.S. institution of higher education in the United States, and who have received an offer of employment from a U.S. employer in a field related to their degree, to more quickly receive work visas. Recognizing that it is in our national interest to ensure that individuals who are educated in the U.S. are able to use their skills and education to benefit our country, the Administration is taking action to facilitate the employment visa process for those who have graduated from college and have a high-skilled job offer, including DACA recipients and other Dreamers. |

"H-1B visa holders can become eligible to apply for a US Green Card, or permanent resident card, after six years in the US. This is because the H-1B visa is considered "dual intent", which means it offers a path to permanent residence. The process of getting a Green Card from an H-1B visa is also known as the H-1B to Green Card transfer or the Employment Based Green Card. " |

Will the employer bear the cost of the application or will they be shifted to the beneficiary? Some employers are not willing to sponsor so what happens in those cases?

Can this be used to remove the 10yr ban, so that one can leave and just come back to visit?

Re: New DACA executive action, is DACA being exapnded???
Is this employer sponsorship or automatic eligibility for a work visa?
How does this help Dreamers left out of DACA regardless of age? What happens if you ALREADY have a job (independent of degree) since DACA only requires a HS diploma? H1B is monopolized by Indian/SE Asian migrants and their dependents. WHAT ABOUT LATIN IMMIGRANTS WHO HAVE BEEN HERE FOR DECADES IN ESSENTIAL OCCUPATIONS? So many questions... |

Re: New DACA executive action, is DACA being exapnded???
The second point of DACA (first one being deportation protection) is that it provides access to higher education - so 99% of Dreamers who were left out of DACA do not have access to secure employment and higher education!
Children of H1Bs have access to income and higher education; it just expires at 21 or after college, so this will help them stay while their petitions become current. For those over 21, the wait can be long as Mexico, Philippines, so this just lets them apply for their own work visa, am I understanding correctly? How is this fair to farmworkers, etc? I think this is racist, not because it is not a good thing, but because it continues to exclude those in most need who have been in this country the longest. |
