Breaking: It's Official! Democrats Surrender, Senate Advances Funding Bill.

The Senate voted to advance a Republican-backed bill to fund the government, setting the measure on a glide-path to final passage ahead of a midnight funding deadline.

While Republicans control the Senate, they do not hold the 60 seats necessary to break a filibuster. The final vote was 62-38, as 10 Democrats joined Republicans in supporting the measure. Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul and all other Democrats opposed.

The vote highlights deep divisions within the Democratic party over how to respond to President Trump in his second term. The decision by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., to support the funding bill sparked an intense backlash from House Democrats, who almost unanimously opposed it.

Here Are the Senate Democrats Who Helped Republicans Avert a Shutdown

  1. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York
  2. Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania
  3. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada
  4. Dick Durbin of Illinois
  5. Brian Schatz of Hawaii
  6. Gary Peters of Michigan
  7. Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire
  8. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York
  9. Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire
  10. Angus King, a Maine independent who caucuses with Democrats.

"I think there is a deep sense of outrage and betrayal and this is not just progressive Democrats — this is across the board, the entire party," New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told reporters Thursday night at a party retreat in Leesburg, Va.

"I think it is a huge slap in the face," she said.

Democrats need to redo their entire party structure to get more new people in office. Abysmal performance bordering on being R-lite.

If you support the Democratic Party at this point, you come across as weak. They are outdated, lack a game plan, and show no interest in creating one as they are on the decline.

Just think about it - they could have offered the same billions of dollars for border security that President Trump offered in exchange for DACA, but they turned it down. Why? Because they prefer to keep immigrants and dreamers in chains.

The Republicans have finally secured the border funding they have been seeking for years, while the Democrats have given up their only leverage. At this point, we better pray Republicans find a DACA solution, because Democrats won't do shit for us.

Senate Passes Six-Month Funding Bill Hours Before Shutdown Deadline

Quote:

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate passed a six-month spending bill on Friday hours before a government shutdown, overcoming sharp Democratic opposition to the measure and sending it to President Donald Trump to be signed into law.

The vote was 54-46. Democrats voiced frustration that Republicans went ahead with a measure they said included little input from them, and one they viewed as shortchanging key priorities such as health care and housing assistance. But in the end, some of them viewed a shutdown as a worse outcome and supported Democratic leader Chuck Schumer's effort to allow the bill to come to a final vote.

Schumer gave members of his caucus days to vent their frustration about the options before them, but abruptly switched course and made clear on the eve of voting that he will not allow a government shutdown. His move outraged many in the party who want to fight the Trump agenda, but gave senators room to side with Republicans and allow the continuing resolution, often described as a CR, to advance.

Democrats from all corners looked to pressure senators to kill the bill. House members wrote letters, posted on social media and held press conferences in the hours before the vote.

“The American people sent Democrats to Congress to fight against Republican dysfunction and chaos,” said a letter from 66 House Democrats to Schumer.

House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries and his team dashed back to the Capitol urging senators to block the bill and negotiate a true compromise with Republicans.

Republicans are amazing at getting their way. True Chads.

They've pimp slapped the Democrats so hard that those niggas are now turning on each other and cannibalizing their own children.

I have zero respect for them now.
Weak ass bitches. They had majority in Obama.
They got 4 years with Biden and even when they had all the cards - they would get outmaneuvered by the Republicans every single time.

Can't believe democrats are taking this easy win, this easy chance to score points on Republicans and are utterly and completely ineffective. Entire democratic house should be dumped out.

I blame Wasserman Schultz for their primary system that protects incumbents. She is directly to blame for all this. Whoever is in her seat now is also to blame. Wake up dems. Your process isn't working. Right when you need them the most they are mia. Cheating Bernie out of his win had incredible repercussions

Take notes democrats!! Take notes!! It's easier to copy than it is to innovate!

Still gonna support democrats because we have no other choice. For the most part the Republicans covertly want to restore the nation to the 1890. Nobody but a select few have rights.

Durbin and Schumer need to go. Anyone 65 and above has had their chance and time, regardless of party affiliation. They are corrupt (with Trump's admin being not only corrupt, but cruel) and disconnected from reality.

Take a look at runforsomething.net. It supports young people running for office.
