The Democratic field is trash now. The Dems will pick up some Congressional seats but that's thanks to Trump's blunders - not their own efforts.

Besides, there's been no changes in how the Democrats run their presidential primaries. The system in place will railroad the next Bernie Sanders- style of candidate which will lead to an unpopular machine candidate being selected again.

The Dems are frozen in time.
They have nothing since Obama.

The machine will not run AOC and Bernie. These guys will get sabotaged in the primaries. Nothing's changed so far. The democratic primaries are still dominated by the Dem machine.

They are going with a white guy this time.
The machine will not double down and put another diversity candidate after 4 yrs of Trump. Never underestimate the power of the generic somewhat moderate white guy in winning elections.

They are now looking to see who can be Mr. Generic White Guy.
Who can fill his shoes?!

The machine is pushing Newson. They think it's him. They are hoping he catches some steam.
There's also that Beto O'Rourke guy and Pete Buttigieg aka Pete Buttplug waiting in the back burner. However, Beto is cursed - never wins big elections and Pete is gay.
That's why Newson is the "perfect" machine candidate right now. He has won a big election in the past, has good looks, a bit of charisma, and yet he has the potential to play the generic white guy game.

However, none of these candidates are worth any salt. None are genuine and bring anything new to the table. Then again, they do not have to.

The bet is that Trump is gonna fumble the economy so bad that the Average American will yearn for normalcy and prefer to vote on a random, generic White guy instead of Trump.

Josh Shapiro is their only chance unless a unknown Obama figure emerges. If next 4 years goes for the economy (highly doubt it), Vance wins by a landslide in 2028.

Kamala running was a last minute quickfix attempt to try save a botched election and the gambit failed.

It would be madness to run her again.

They can use her to run on a big , safe Blue state to free up a potential Generic White Guy to run for 2028 but that's the best they can do with her.
