It is an interesting opinion piece and makes rational sense, but I don't think the powers that control immigration want to go down that path. Stephen Miller and the other hawks will put a stop to the idea immediately. Dems will want legal status for all, which will drive Republicans from the table. The sides are unable to find the middle ground

But that is the issue: the new entrants that came during Biden's years have some sort of protection.

You know who doesn't have that? the undocumented who have worked and lived here for decades. They should be first along wiht Dreamers in receiving permanent status. Those individuals are the easiest to vet for background and safety. The author makes an excellent and reasonable point that this action is long overdue.

Trump himself knows this is logical which is why he has refused to deport Dreamers en masse. Expelling hard-working employees who have been with their employer for decades is both cruel and bad business!

Democrats will never be open to fixing the immigration issue or else they won’t have nothing to fundraise and campaign for. Specially under Schumer’s leadership.

Sure bro just one more year. Its the immigration version of the highway's just one more lane bro. Why didn't he start it on day one? We are not his priority never were never have been. Not even citizens got anything good on day one. Well, other than tariffs.

Tariffs have done a tremendous job and are working really well. Prices are up and that means once they go away prices will remain up. Which means more profits for corporations. And then that means more jobs. The cycle is closed hooray.
