can anyone help...
i got pulled over recently for my tail light not working, and got cited for not having a DL..I understand the part were i get cited for not having a DL and getting my car towed...but for the initial reason that i got pulled over for which accoring to the police officer was my tail light not working was just a bunch of B.S...i check my car it was working and you know hes above the law doing his job after finding i was breaking the law by drinving without a DL. I mean if he had an actual ligitimate reason for stopping me other than just making up an excuse for pulling me over...i wouldnt be mad at these police officers. Does anyone know or have any advice for me...??? I mean i get so pist off when people are so unfair and specially when police officer tries to be above the law just because they have a badge!! I mean i got nothing against police officer doing their job but i think its not fair when some of them just try to find any reason to arrest you or cite you!!!

Re: can anyone help...
Unfortunately...that is whats happening right now. In the absence of a federal immigration reform, states and localities are taking it upon themselves to regulate illegal immigration and the only legitimate means is to take part in enforcement.
The consensus on this forum is that we strongly recommend that you don't drive without a license. If you have to drive for absolutely necessary reasons, then its a risk that you have to take. If you're driving for the sake of driving, then thats just playing with fire. Sooner or later, you may get caught. As for the citation..do you have to pay a fine? If you have to, then see if you can pay the fine by mail or in person. Some places require you to appear before a judge and if thats the case, then we can go into that if it requires. |

Usually court isn't what you think it is. Well, when I had to go to court it wasn't what I thought it was going to be. All they really care about is money. What did I do? Because I was scared (because the cop told me "take all your papers or you'll get deported") I just went to a law office, paid $200, and they made my fines go down. But I had to go to court to pay. I went, you give them the ticket, or a paper they give you at the law office, they told what the total was, gave them the money, and that was it.
- I didn't go to school for a week after my accident, cause I was scared and depressed and I didn't know what the hell was going to happen in court. |
Re: can anyone help...
I would suggest to get some legal advice. Find a community organization that offers this for free or have a sliding fee scale. I'm sure you can find them in your city. Get someone to represent you in court, and who can make a case as to why you need the vehicle to go to work.
Last year I struck some luck when I got pulled over for talking on my cell and driving without a DL. I do have one, but I didn't have it with me when this happened. I went to court, and the judge dismissed the charges b/c the cop did not show up to court. Good luck and do not get frustrated. Try to keep your head cool and you will be able to work through this. If the court date comes and you are not ready ask for an extension. |
Re: can anyone help...
if the citation is a civil infraction you don't have to face a judge . you just pay the fine at the court usually there are cashiers before you enter the actual courtrooms but by paying the fine you agree to being guilty of said citation.( non-violent civil infractions wont affect you in gaining legal status)
now if its a misdemeanor then you might have to face a judge but some infractions can be paid off without facing a judge but by paying you agree to be guilty of said misdemeanor. But in this case check to see if you can pay it off via internet, phone or mail I've received various civil infractions (3)traffic related and since i had a valid license i went ahead and tried my luck with the court 2 out the 3 infractions i was given were waived off because the cops failed to show up on many of them. check your local laws first before taking any advice |
Re: can anyone help...
I think everyone here was right on point. You are gonna have to pay a fine for the DL, which makes it more frustrating if the cop did make up his info.
