theres so many misconceptions about us out there it is so ridiculous.

I tried getting some votes for Change.org through some forums, and the amount of just misinformation about us DREAMers and undocumented immigrants that i came in contact with in general is just appalling. IE, someone actually believed us DREAMers are living it up in the united states, driving cadillacs, rich, partying all day- because we didnt pay taxes (more like we CANT pay taxes). I guess its easy to believe in such bs when you have so much hate to fuel such nonsense.

But some of us do pay taxes, I remember talking to one of my friends and he didn't know that we pay taxes (well atleast some of us), and he mentioned that it was stupid that if we are at least paying taxes, then we should be given a path to legalization.

One of my other friends thinks that the reason we are illegal is because we are too lazy to go to the INS office and fill out some paperwork to become a citizen.

Generally speaking, if you are a human being chances are you are ignorant about something, that is why it doesn't bother if ignorance rampant, the only thing we can do is to educate people about our situation.

Funny you say that cajeta, because my mom had mentioned something similar, and my pastor preaches a lot on changing yourself first in order to impact the world. And yes, it does make one think, that is why I love that quote so much because everyone has an agenda to change, but it first has to start with the individual.

I think most of the ones that replay with that shit are anti-immigrant group crew, they want to be seem all over. 80% of the time it's them. So that the people will think most people is against it, when it really it is just a group that focus on doing exactly post, comment, and advocate anti immigrant summaries. So, you just worry about doing your part and let comment back saying that the ones that left the messages were anti-immigrant group. And keep posting for the dream act.

Most people will not say hate words against no body , but these hates groups are advocating the contrary. And I guess they are doing a pretty good damn job, if they make you believe everybody is doing it. Its just small groups of people, they are no match!, keep posting on favor.

I think most of the so called immigration expert that appears in TV, have no clue about immigration and immigration law. And, they never interview immigration lawyer, people that actually know thing or two abt immigration law. First of all if dream act passes, you would be qualify for green card after 4/6 year and then after another 5 yr qualify for citizenship. So, you are talking abt 10/12 year process. These hate groups argument is these student would sponsor their parent and brother/sister and it is a backdoor amnesty for eveyone. First of all it would take you 10/12 to get citizenship and if your parent are illegal that mean they would have to leave the country and stay outside for 10 yr and then you can sponsor them. How many people would do that? 1 in 100 probably. Whole argument is baseless. Most american citizen never try to understand immigration law and how messed up it is. that's why these hate group and racist talk show can influence them.

Here's how you can reply:

1. It wouldn't reward coming here illegally as most Dreamers came here as children without understanding what was happening. It rewards hard work and only those who are productive, there are requirements to qualify. "Illegal" presence isn't the sole basis of the Dream Act.

2. We are not taking anyone's spot at a university since people aren't guaranteed seats just because they are citizens. Why assume they would even want to or qualify to enroll in college? Besides, shouldn't colleges keep their level of competition up so they can have the brightest students?

3. Haha, no wonder he is your ex. He thinks there are thousands of masochists who enjoy the same form of torture? If we could get legal residency, we would have already done it and the Dream Act wouldn't exist. Ask him if he thinks that you enjoy being in your situation.

you can show him this:
