CPA exam.

Anyone here planning to take the CPA exam or already took it.
Do you know any state will allow undocumented student to sit for the exam?
I know New York state doesn't allow.
I am not sure about other states.
If anyone can share the information for CPA exam with me I will appreciate it !!

What? Who said that New York State doesn't allow undocumented students to take the exam? Where are you getting this from?

I'm sure you can take the CPA test, but you can't get your license since you're not legally able to work. That's what happened with nursing students. If you can get sponsored by an employer and everything's worked out, then you can get your license but it'll take time.

Accounting Students Assemble!!!

Oh, hopefully by then, the Dream Act will have passed so this issue would be moot. If the stars align...

im majoring in accounting but im still a year away from an associates n three years away from a bachelors so i really havent looked into the CPA yet since they require a B.S but my goal is definately to be a CPA in the long-run. I know it's an extremely hard test and most people fail it not only the 1st or 2nd or 3rd time but even further than that. My accounting prefessor is one of the best professors i have ever had and yet he took it 6 times before finally passing it.

i just finished my last semester, and i was trying to apply for CPA exam.
when i filled in the form, it asked for status.
Stuff like, if you r not resident, please provide your visa copy.
So I called them, and they said if you r undocumented, you can't take the exam.

REALLY? i tried couple states, they all required legal residency.
Does anyone around you who is undoucmented and took the exam.

But if you r undocumented can you still change your status if your employer willing to help? Cos i heard that if your visa expired, you can't change your status even u find a company that is willing to hire you.

I just got my B.S in accting, and if i don't apply for the exam by 2009 i will need 150 credits to sit for the exam. So i'm hoping i m able to apply for the exam before Aug 2009.

It's hard to become a CPA when you r undocumented. Most of my classmate are working in CPA firm or working as an intern in their junior year and start looking for jobs in their senior year ... but I couldn't do anything since no one will hire an undocumented. I don't have any related experience and I might not allow to take the CPA exam... now i'm LOST ... i don't know what should i do next... sit and wait for them to pass the DREAM act ? I can't see my future ...

Yes, you would need 245(i) for you to change your status while in the US otherwise you will have to do that overseas.

I just assumed the process to become a CPA is the same as an RN. I know someone who took the nursing test but couldn't get the nursing license until everything was fixed.
