Loans for dental school

Hi Everyone,

I have been following the dream act for the past couple of years now, and unfortunately, if there is an age limit to this years dream act, I no longer will qualify.

Recently, I have was blessed and got accepted into dental school. However, I am now in a position where I need to secure private loans (because undocumented students do not qualify for any federal loans) in order to pay for dental school. I have been finding this to be difficult and was wondering if anyone has info, experience, or advice on the matter.

My two main questions are as follows:

1. IF I am able to find a US cosigner, can I take out private loans to pay for dental school (looks like I'll need ~$60,000 for the first year)?

2. IF I am not able to find a US cosigner, are there any private loans available that I am able to qualify for?

I am totally frustrated and would really appreciate ANY info, input, advice, etc.

Thanks!

do you have a SSN and good credit? If so, then you can probably qualify for a Loan through Sallie Mae.

If not, I am sure you can secure a US Cosigner for most of the loans offfered through Sallie Mae. I'd recommend that you put together a contract between yourself and the cosigner. Just to reassure them that you will pay your loans.

Hope this helps! I got loans through sallie mae for law school, about 40k a yr.

^ Even if you have a co-signer who is a US citizen, they still ask to see a copy of your visa to check if you are here legally.

The only loan out there you could get is the Sallie Mae Tuition Answer Loan, because the US Citizen is listed as the primary borrower on this one, with you as the "student." They also accept ITIN.

This loan is not being offered right now, you can check back in a few months.
