Re: Brand New
Your story sounds a lot like my bf's, he's really passionate about education and he was such a good student all through out highschool (4.3 GPA, honor roll graduate, top 2% of his class) and then BOOM! at the end of senior year, where most people were getting ready to embark on a new journey to college to pursue new opportunities and open doors awaiting for them, his doors closed because of a stupid legal status. He gets really depressed and aggravated sometimes. And although, I'd do anything to help him, marriage isn't an option for us (for personal reasons). So sometimes, obvious routes, like marriage, aren't so easy. I understand how you feel, and I'll tell you the same thing I tell him: if you want to keep pursuing your education and expand your knowledge, nothing is stopping you. Teach yourself, go to the library, read, research, give yourself a disciplined schedule, as if you were going to school. Sometimes, I encourage my bf to come to my classes with me to keep up and keep his brain exercised. It was hard at first because he hadn't been a "student" for the past two years, but being the genius that he is, he bounced right back. He's learning everything I'm learning, AND he even tutors me, sometimes. They may keep you from getting a diploma, but they can't keep you from getting educated.
