It really depends on what kind of person you are. If the Dream Act passes, you can join any branch.
If you join the Army or Marines, you are most likely going to be deployed. But in the Air Force or Navy, you might not. It really depends on what job you choose once you join.
My husband has been in the Air Force for a year and isn't even eligible to be deployed for another year. He's a cop in AF and pretty much does the same type of job any regular cop would do, just on the base.
I have a friend in the Army, who is also a cop. He hasn't even graduated from training yet, and is already going to deploy by the end of this year.
And I know others who are in the Army that are being deployed.
So before you make your choice, make sure you find out what job you want and what branch..
Some people aren't made to go to college, and if that's you, then I suggest joining the military.
It's really not that bad, but if you want to be completely free, that's not going to happen. There are a lot of rules you have to follow in the military, but at the same time, there are tons of benefits like free healthcare and eduation (GI Bill).
