Anyone from any nationality can join. You can only join within France. That's your first obstacle, making it to France. Depending on what country you are from, you may or you may not need a visa to get there. Luckily for me, I was born in the new Cuba err, Venezuela and I don't require a Visa for stays of up to 90 days. After 3 years of service, if you survive you can become a French citizen. Which pretty much means you are free to move to any EU member country you damn well please. Your contract upon joining if you are accepted is for 5 years. My cousin joined last March. Although I haven't heard from him in a few months. He says the work is long, hard and tiresome but you do get a decent monthly wage, with basically most expenses covered. Last I heard from him he was somewhere in Southern France.
