Saying something like that in a Spanish-language newspaper is a win-win for a politician. You appease the concerned group, yet you don't anger any conservative opponents because they never come into contact with such newspaper and you are never really held accountable, so you can only take this with a grain of salt.

Actually, La Opinion is an American newspaper. It was founded in LA in the 20s, I believe. In any case, I agree with you. I don't like how we hear these things in Spanish language papers only. On the other hand, it seems the best thing to do politically, and DREAM/CIR will be delivered via politics.
