This is the kind of mentality that has hijacked Washington and left us in the permanent gridlock state that we’re in. We don’t need bipartisan support in the House. If Republicans want to pander to the teabagger crowd and shoot themselves in the foot, then so be it. I’m with Mauro on this one: goodbye and good riddance.
In fact, this is a great pickup opportunity for Democrats. If they get someone like Joe Garcia and frame the Republican opponent as part of the anti-Latino movement, the 74% Latino electorate in that district could easily turn that seat blue.
Also, this helps “purify” the party even further (great news for teabaggers everywhere); which conversely makes it harder for the Republican leadership to pretend they're in touch with America. In other words, it will be harder for them to point at the one Latino guy in the room and say “look, we’re not just a bunch of White old men.”
They’re down to a handful of them now —mostly old Cubans.
