There are always DL checkpoints on or around holidays for obvious reasons.
The fastest way to know where they are, is by word of mouth. Everytime there are checkpoints around where I live (Garden Grove/Anaheim), my friends send me texts of the crosstreets and I just forward them to other friends and family.
It sucks, really. I've been through it. I had my car taken away/towed about 2 years ago. I spent ~$1500 the month it was impouned including court/ticket.
Also, I need to throw this out. My mom goes to a diabetes class and she said one of the ladies that was going to her class was telling her about how another lady and her child were take by ICE at a bus stop. There's no reason why the lady would be making it up, my mom said she was quite shaken up. I should point out that she was actually waiting for the bus, and was on her way to take her son to the local hospital because he had a high fever.
But yeah, just be careful guys. If you see there's a checkpoint going on, try to not even head out. If you must go out, do so, but get informed before hand as to what areas they are covering.
