i would say having parties with socialists leanings doesnt represent a truly socialist ideology , these are reformers parties that dont get to the root of the issue which is the emancipation of workers worldwide. greece is a great example of that right now. in the u.s the communist party is rcp(revolutionary communist party), all their info is at rev.com i think, socialist organizations in the us include socialist alternative in affilitation with cwi (committee for workers international) and the international socialist organization . things i personally found useful in educating myself , were reading latin america history books, watching documentaries on the subject, check out the websites of these organizations, talked to the members of these organizations and had and continue to have discussions about the subject. you can check out a meeting as well. read up on marx, lenin, mao, stalin, and understand their similotaries and difference. never believe everything you hear until you have evidence thats its true. *all of the organizations i listed have wiki articles and websites, they have a lot of good info
