The rest of the population in Miami consists of Haitians or other West Indian people, and a decreasing amount are white people. Miami is a shit hole of the largest degree.

You won't be living a luxurious South Beach, clubbing-every-night lifestyle if that is what appealed to you so much in the first place. You can forget most late night affairs if you lack proper documentation (i.e., a driver's license). Getting a decent, non-project-like apartment will be a problem. Getting a valid Florida license or identification card is near impossible if you are illegal (they just recently added more stringent requirements over the already stringent ones). Having a car is a must! Public Transportation is horrendous.

In all, the life you live in Texas is one that most undocumented youth would die for. You risk throwing it all away for a largely unfounded whim of wanting to move to a nicer location. (You're not satisfied with the chocolate cake you're eating, and want double chocolate instead).

Truly, you risk losing everything you have, and gaining very little, if anything.
I agree with H3wlett on this. I've lived in FL for about 12 yrs and I love it, but Miami is just about the worst place in the state.

Miami doesn't feel like it's part of the US. It feels like you're in a third world country. That may sound bad, but whatever. Unless make a good living, you'll be living in a run down apartment in the ghetto.

Like Hewlett mentioned, Cubans are NOT nice or even respectful. They are sometimes worse than racist hillbillies. Both times I've been to the airport, I was treated like crap by Cubans. When they lost my bag, the girl at baggage claim gave me an attitude and treated me like it was my fault they lost my bag. I refuse to fly out of or into Miami ever again (even though Miami flights are cheap!).

There is NO way to get a driver's license in FL without legal status since they changed the law this year. Like H3wlett said, public transportation sucks. I think it's possible to get insurance with an international license, though. Not sure.

The unemployment rate is pretty high, so the odds of finding a job aren't so good. A lot of people I know are unemployed, legal or not. Just in my family, both my parents were laid off months ago, as were my uncle and aunt.

If you want to live in FL, I say move to Orlando or West Palm. They are much nicer and cleaner.. Not to mention there are less Cubans.

You have a job and an overall good life. If I were you, I'd stay in Texas. So many people on the forum would give anything to switch places with you. Don't just throw it all away because you're.. bored.
