E-verify and all draconian immigration laws that amended the INA, were passed with the help of lots of Democrats in Congress and signed into law by a Democratic president - Bill Clinton- in order to get re-elected in 1996. Most conceded they hadn't even read it before voting for it. All laws written by the Republicans (mostly Lamar Smith; who is now back in Congress once again trying to achieve his mission on Earth of eliminating "illegal" immigrants) were legal traps to make it impossible for people who were already here, and people who would later arrive, to regularize their status.

Doesn't this just fill you with confidence in this administration and the Democrats?
