I'm from Houston. They call it the space city, bayou city, or traffic hell. lol. It's been the only home I have ever known.

Definitely, politicians need to step up their game in defense of the rights of minorities. Personally, I'm not interested in the idea of marriage for papers, but if it allows us a status as being equal in society I'm all for it.

You know, I didn't use to care about LGBQ issues. I thought my sexuality was my issue, nobody needs to know, I didn't have to speak up about it. It wasn't until I heard the story of a 13 year old boy from the Houston area who committed suicide after being bullied for being gay. At the time, my nephew was being bullied as well so it hit me very close to home. It was enraging how ignorant and stupid the school acted; pretending the issue did not exist until a great tragedy happened. All I could think of was how much that little boy suffered thinking his feelings were wrong and how he didn't deserve to live. How people can be so inconsiderate and malicious to make that little boy's life miserable until the very end. It isn't right. It's heartbreaking. It made me change my views. I need to speak, we need to speak up so that tragedies like that don't happen.
