The deferred action 2 year clock will likely start counting down the moment one receives approval. Then you can file for an EAD which could take up to 3 months to arrive.
These are things that we have to foresee and prepare for.

Not to mention some states make you get a permit first, and wait 6 months before getting a license
And you also wouldn't want to risk driving without a licensed driver in the passenger's seat, which stinks as well because some of our parents don't have a driver's license
