For all of you in Idaho that don't have a valid passport, or no passport at all, this thread might be helpful.

First, I walked in, filled out the form, and turned it in. This girl's name was called out by a white male worker, and she was asked for a passport. She replied that she did not have one, and that her only ID was a school ID. The worker told her to take a seat, and he went in and came back a minute later and called my name.

I gave the worker my School ID and my valid Mexican passport. He looked through them and let me in right away. He told me to take a seat, and he started to talk to this other worker, who was a male Hispanic, about the girl whose only ID was a school ID. They were discussing about whether they should let everyone with no government ID take the biometrics, or whether they should send them out to get a passport. The Hispanic wasn't very compassionate and insisted that they sent them out to get their passport, while the white worker was attempting to convince him that a lot of people will not be able to get a passport.

Right then, a lady came out and talked to the girl to make sure that she didn't have any other ID. Then she told the girl to take a seat again. The white worker took my picture and fingerprints, asked me to fill out a survey, and I was on my way out. The guy was a pleasant man; he asked me why I came to Idaho from such a beautiful city in Mexico. I replied that I did not make that choice. He conversed to me about other things, such as when I came to the United States and if I remembered Mexico.

Well, as I was on my way out, the girl was allowed entrance with just the school ID.

For any of you going to the Boise 1185 USCIS center, I highly recommend getting your passport. The unlikeable Hispanic guy might change his mind one of these days and force people to get a passport. But there's also a chance that you will be allowed entrance with just a school ID, as in this scenario.
