I think reforming rules that exist now should be the focus because they are what not allowing many eligible people from becoming legal. Most people already have a US citizen close relative that can sponsor them or an employer willing to sponsor them.

Before IIRIRA people traveled back and forth to work. They rarely settled here. It is the policies of IIRIRA that made the problem worse because people had to stay to help their families back home.

No I don't support infinite illegal immigration, but I also don't think you could ever really fully stop it. Think about it this way. What is below the United States, Mexico, el salvador, guatemala etc.. all poor countries. The economic push and pull is never going to stop. Why do you think the Chinese came, the italians, irish, japanese etc....

I do think that it needs to be earned legalization and I do agree with the language requirement. I know many of my colleagues don't but you need English to defend yourself.

I don't support the use of the word Illegal and I am in disbelief at how many of you use it.
What? Again I JUST SAID that i support e-verify AFTER CIR is implemented. I'll say it again, expansion of immigration to allow people to come here.

Its a new time with different "threats" to the country, you should forget about the specifics of bills that were passed previously and look toward the future that adds security. This needs to be addressed regardless of what anyone thinks because too many people are concerned with national security.

Yes, i also agree that you cant stop the push pull. Technically there can be a way to stop it but it is too much money invested that it would not be realistic. Thats why there needs to be a more permanent solution and since most people come here for work e-verify is a way to stop giving them incentives to come here. We are a single country, while it would be nice to help countries below us, a line must be drawn.

How are people who have been here for for decades who are now old and undocumented supposed to prove their worth when they are 70, 80 years old? That makes no sense. Yes, obviously people should learn english as a means of communication.

Sorry im not butt hurt over the word illegal. I used it once in the context where you could replace it with undocumented. The only other time i used the word undocumented. Im not going to call it Undocumented immigration, im going to call it like it is. Im in disbelief that you think the word illegal is demoralizing to every person in this country who is undocumented. I dont care what you call me, illegal or undocumented, all i care about is a fair path to fix this issue in a clear and robust manner.

for the record, you used the word illegal twice in your last post.
