I wish the DOJ had the power to go in and fire these people from their jobs, for their utter ignorance:
From the article.. "Rather, it is prosecutorial discretion extended in a blanket fashion to persons who are not lawfully authorized to be present in the United States."
If this isn't a politically-based statement, I don't know what is. "Blanket fashion"? Hardly, with all of the requirements for DACA. These states certainly didn't have an issue with other deferred action/TPS programs (i.e Haiti refugees)
Nevermind that by definition, someone who has been authorized by DHS to work in the US, is therefore authorized to be present in the US (as a beneficiary of DACA is). We may not have lawful status, but are nonetheless authorized to be here for the time being (2 years for DACA).
"DOT officials said that Iowa law says that a driver's license or nonoperator ID card shall only be issued to a foreign national authorized to be present in the United States."

While it is a State's right to decide who gets a specific state benefit (driver license), they do not get to determine who is authorized to be in the US or not, only the federal government (DHS) can decide this. A state may not discriminate against immigrants with lawful status or who are otherwise authorized to be in the US. Therefore, they cannot pick which immigrants it considers as "legitimate" and which not.
