I've had an itin since I was 12 when I first came here, however I have never used it for anything besides opening my bank account because I have never been able to work, therefore I have never filed taxes. Is it necessary for me to rescind the number? I called the IRS and they said since I have never filed taxes, the moment I do it with my new ssn they will link up the itin with the ssn. I am confused because it seemed to me that I knew more about the topic than the rep that was helping me. After I mentioned that I had seen online that I needed to rescind the number by sending a letter she agreed with me and gave me an address but it doesn't even have a PO Box number or anything, just Austin, TX because she said it is a service center. Help please!
