I think "no special path" is better than "no path". What undocs will end up getting is a lower tier permanent residence that can't be converted to citizenship, but which allows them to change status into other types of visas without incurring the penalty of staying abroad for a decade. If they really want the citizenship they'll have to jump through hoops, but at least they're not legally prohibited from becoming citizens.
