The same thing happened to my family. Things were hard here as undocumented immigrants, but they're way harder in Mexico as citizens. They went back thinking it was going to be easier. It isn't. Minimum wage is crap, costs of living are comparable to here (they're in a border town) not to mention the violence, corruption and living conditions. They say it's the worst decision they ever made and they want nothing more than to come back. I feel really bad for them and all of the people who made the same choice. Not many go to Mexico to forge a better life for themselves.
