It seems like the US government has really disrespected you and since you're so prideful and are not begging anybody, one would wonder why are you here? Go back to your home country and see how efficient their governmental agencies work.

The reality is your situation right now is a minor inconvenience. WORST case is you'll have to take a week or two off of work and do side-jobs. If you're really hurting for money, go stand in a Home Depot parking lot with your fellow illegals and cry to them about how hard it is that you had a work permit for 2 years and will get the renewal a couple of weeks later. See how understanding they are.
