I have been really proactive about my case even while it was in "normal processing timeframe" and contacted Congressman representative (you can also contact the Senator). They have a special USCIS Liaison and you just have to be super persistent with them about your case even if they say they can't do anything.
Another thing you can do is contact the USCIS Ombudsman and file Form DHS 7001. They can also look into your case if it is past the normal processing time, but won't really do much otherwise.
Finally, an attorney I spoke to today said that you can schedule an Infopass at a local USCIS Field Office and tell them your situation and they may be able to look into you case but likely won't really do much.
I know it is so frustrating to wait and causes financial losses and job loss if your EAD expires and you just can't work until you get your new EAD or your case is approved. All I can say in your case just be constantly communicating with a congress/senator rep and don't take no for an answer especially with how long you've been waiting.

Thanks, I appreciate the info you provided. I will schedule an infopass and contact the ombudsman. I have not worked in 3 weeks but they gave me a month to provide a work authorization . It was a state job with amazing benefits so I will be super upset to lose that job.
