Hello everyone!
So a few weeks ago I took a trip to visit Slab City, in California close to the Mexican Border! The reason I went is that I was interested in the Artwork instillations of this forgotten city in the middle of the desert. Being from Orange County and finally taking my first road trip was an amazing experience. So long story short on our way to our destination and blasting our music, my friend and I looked up ahead in the distance and saw what appeared to be a truck stop where they weigh them! W-R-O-N-G!!!! It was a check point! I was shitting bricks!!!! So they didn't stop us going to Slab City, but on our way back they DID!!!
So as I roll up on our way back from our trip to this stop, and the border patrol asked my friend and I what our nationality was! I said I am Mexican, and naturally they asked my friend who is a US Citizen. They didn't question her further but they told me to park my car in the side. He proceeds to ask me if I had any documentation, my green card etc. etc. I told him How SHOULD I KNOW TO CARRY ALL MY PAPERWORK iF IM STILL IN THE US! I think he was taken aback that I was so curt with him and I showed him a little attitude! My friend was so scared. But we don't have anything to hide!! They asked the Mexican border patrol to talk to me and I told him the same thing, I gave them my Cali license and they checked it for about 20 minutes and waited to get an answer from god knows where. I tried to explain to them that I had a work permit and I was currently attending Cal State Fullerton. But they acted like I was talking gibbrish. Well they gave my license back and said I could leave! Fuckers! not even a Bye! have a safe night!
The point is Never lie to border patrol and I guess carry your documentation wherever you go. Hope this helps someone! I still gotta call my lawyer and ask her what I should do in case this every happens again. I would like to hear someone else's experience with border patrol within the US.
