Dear All,

I don't want to sound like a prophet of Doom, but I think we should highlight the elephant in the room - the president-elect (man, room and Doom rhymed!). Now, I don't want to say that the new President will rescind DACA the moment he sets foot in the oval office. However, it must be noted that he has promised to do this within a short period of time (100 days to be precise). Contrary to popular belief, DACA is NOT an executive order. It was simply a memo issued by then USCIS president on behalf of President Obama. All the new President has to do is issue a cancellation order which is even easier to make do with than cancelling an executive order. Therefore, cancellation of DACA is a VERY real possibility given that the new cabinet will be extremely conservative (Gingrich, Christie, Guiliani, etc), and the new President will need to fulfill his promise if he envisions 8 years in the oval office.

I discussed this issue with a small of group of DREAMERS in my neighborhood (around 100), and an interesting proposal was made - to reach out to Canadian government (you know where this is going) given that their current Prime Minister is quite empathetic and progressive in such matters. The main purpose of this communication would be to galvanize Canadian immigration to tweak (minor) their current point system to allow DREAMERS as acceptable candidates from US, in case push comes to shove. Now, even if this is accomplished, willing DREAMERS will need to go through the point-system process which takes 8-10 months to get approved. At this stage, if DREAMERS want to apply to this system, it will have to be done from the country of birth.

Currently, I have not drafted the letter and I am in the process of gathering signatories. Till this point, I have around 70 of them (all within my neighborhood in Queens, NY). I think we should have as many signatories as possible. This is one forum where we can gather quite a plentiful of names. If you would like your name to be added, please reply or message (not sure if that is an option, I am new to this forum) with following information:

Name, Email, State of Residence, Age when you entered US, Education or Employment (In High School, In College, College Graduate, Working Full Time, and so on...).

If I gather enough names from this particular forum, I will post the letter here first and will adjust it according to any feedback I receive before submitting to the Prime Minister's office. Please note guys that this is just an outreach to the Prime Minister and, it is NOT entirely a fiction to believe that the new President might actually be beneficial to DREAMERS or at least not detrimental.

Thanks,
Ral
