Hi -

I recently went to a DMV in NJ to get my license renewed and was stopped short of the process because that office could not verify my immigration status.

I brought all of the following documentation with me as proof and still they were not able to verify via, I suppose, their in-house verification process.

Documents:
> Utility Bill
> EAD Card
> SSN Card
> ATM Card
> Current Driver's License

After the person at the desk sat with my documentation for about 10 minutes, all he said was that I had to check in with the SAVE system within 3-5 days to see if the status of my Verification was updated and then I had to come back.

I am confused as to why this happened because this is the 2nd time I am renewing my license since I was approved for DACA. The first time, it was a fairly straight forward process. SAVE (the verification system for immigration status via USCIS) never even came up. Also, I was approved for my DACA renewal (EAD and relief from deportation) in August of this year (2016) for the 2nd time since the initial approval.

I am very confused by this and just looking to see if anyone else went through something similar. Also, if you did, how did it go and did you get your license. I am assuming this is not a big deal, I just want to share my experience and get some feedback.

Thanks!
