Going out of country to your native country, you don't need a passport.

I have a similar predicament for my home country (not Korea) that has national service for their male citizens. I have to read up on the rules soon but I'm waiting for AOS (expired visa and married to a USC) here first before attempting to even renew my passport at the consulate.
