that's what the DREAM ACT offers, 5 years of conditional PR then another 5 years of PR. then we get to apply for citizenship after 10 years. i think that is fair and DREAMers arent cutting anyone in line.
as for everyone else, are you okay with work permits for the rest of the illegal population?

Giving them amnesty means broadcasting to the world that American borders are open and you can be legal at some point in the future.
