Could be one of the reasons. Also, he doesn't like backlash and being hated on instead of admired. He loves to be adored and praised in the media. He liked the positive reviews he received from trying to strike deals and meeting with Democrats. He is know for the art of making the deal. He wants a legislative win after that Obamacare repeal mess.
I doubt anything big could come from Russian investigation now. Those things take time.
