^Yes, you'll have to submit the original cert + black and white copy, and you keep the receipt/another copy for yourself. I would make sure you have a digital scan/high res copy of it before turning it in.

They send the material via express mail so it should be clear where the doc is at all times, you can keep tracking of everything online too.

Supposedly the passport will come first, and then the original doc couple of weeks later in the mail. I applied last week via expedited method so hoping to see the passport this month.
