Robotics and automation will replace many in the labor force, and will also create new opportunities. A thriving economy can not coexist without a consumer demand.
The present issue is that lower tear wages have been stagnant for decades due to several policies, a raise in minimum wage is a necessity, specially now that the economy is about to get hit with inflation to the lower end consumer goods that have stayed out of price raises thanks to globalization and corporate welfare. I personally would benefit from lower wages, but I don't think it would be good for the economy and political outlook of the US.
