This is something that has been on my mind early on...If I would meet someone from my own culture, I would not purse them once I found out they were here on a student visa or otherwise it was obvious they were fresh off the boat. Oddly enough, over the years I have met a lot of college students from various backgrounds who thought they could hit ME up for a green card as well because they would ask me how long I've lived in the US and I'd tell them however many decades it was at the time. Surely, someone who had been living here for decades is not an illegal!

But yeah, for undocumented person dating someone who isn't at least on the path to citizenship is just asking for hurt.
