Yes she isn’t the best candidate but is the best chance Dems have right now with 4 months left. She gets Biden donation war chest plus the 100M she made in a day. Trump is spiraling on truth and people inside his camp are regretting picking JD now. That should tell you everything.
I just don't see Obama energy outside of what is being pitched in the media and those who already identify as democrats. It's a honeymoon/excitement phase of finally moving away from Biden who was going to lose in a landslide.

Assuming that Kamala is the candidate:
1) Her VP pick is going to be very important
2) A strong debate performance would help her odds of beating Trump.
3) If by some miracle RFK endorsed Kamala, then it is game over.

If the elections were held today, the aggregate polling shows that Trump wins, even the internal data from the Democrats that was leaked is showing that, but since we are still a few months away it is still possible to win because of the points mentioned.
