It doesn't matter. Even the worst raping murderer deserves a trial by jury.

What makes this country great is the rule of law and a government that is accountable to its citizens and abiding to a set of rules. Obviously in practice the government isn't always perfect and the rules are bent a lot of the time, but if the government starts explicitly and shamelessly breaking the rules it sets for itself, then there's no protection for anyone.

As for the particular dude in question, it wouldn't surprise me if he had done some bad things. But I have a lot of sympathy, because he got propelled to the public eye through no fault of his own and in the process found himself in a middle of a game political football. In the process, his reputation got trashed by people who just want to score political points and have no real interest in finding the truth.

The same people who are sure that he abused his wife also said that he was a human trafficker when he was not or that he was a member of MS13 when it's likely that he was not and that MS13 is a terrorist group when it's very definitely not (although it's a terrible gang).

Remember he escaped at the age of 16 because a rival gang to MS13 threatened his life. That's why there's so much bs in this story. These central american gangs aren't like the mafia where only those who want to join become members. Their tactic is blackmailing you to join them and doing some nasty things by threatening to kill you or a loved one.
