nothing. the girl driving gave him her license, he looked at it quickly and let us go. but the thing is, i was going to drive (we were making a walmart run, i needed groceries) except i didn't have any gas, so since she needed stuff too, she drove. but the entire time i was just thinking "damn, it could have been me driving. my college career could have come to a screeching halt just like that". This town is supposed to be safe. There aren't a lot of minorities (outside of african americans), they don't work with ICE, there aren't any raids, but the roadblock just reminded me that my sense of safety was false. in all reality, i felt safe behind an unlocked door.
