I would suggest to get some legal advice. Find a community organization that offers this for free or have a sliding fee scale. I'm sure you can find them in your city. Get someone to represent you in court, and who can make a case as to why you need the vehicle to go to work.
Last year I struck some luck when I got pulled over for talking on my cell and driving without a DL. I do have one, but I didn't have it with me when this happened. I went to court, and the judge dismissed the charges b/c the cop did not show up to court.

Good luck and do not get frustrated. Try to keep your head cool and you will be able to work through this. If the court date comes and you are not ready ask for an extension.
