Repubes marked Obama as an enemy the moment they caught sight of his brown skin and foreign sounding name. Plain and simple, racism. The whole notion of the tea party and Republican leadership calling to "take the country back" came from their racism towards the man. The majority wouldn't out right call him the n-word (though many have), so they opted for "Marxist, Socialist, Nazi, Kenyan, usurper, radical Muslim, angry-black-man etc..." all under the guise of wanting to "preserve freedom" or "uphold the constitution," or "limit the size of government and reign in spending."

Absolute, flat out racism. From the despicable likes of Mitch McConnell who publicly stated that his party's number one goal was to make Obama a one-term president to the incessant hate spewed by pundits like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and the rest of Fox News, all was mired in the rotten stench of racism.

This is why it blows my mind when I hear some minorities and some Hispanics who choose to side with Republicans. It's like they wish to dig their own grave and subject their future generations to more oppression. The division in parties can be boiled down to this:

Republicans/Conservatives are fundamentally prone to religious dogma and an unwillingness to progress or shall I say yield, to any social advances. Hence, they are the party who hate gays, despise the inevitable "browning" of America, opposed women's rights, and most infamously upheld slavery.

Democrats/Liberals/Progressives on the other hand are willing to accept all members of society and what's more, stand up and fight alongside minorities of all types against racism, bigotry, and intolerance. Proof of this can be found by looking at all the major social movements in our history and at their great leaders.

The choice is clear.
