Update:
Just got back from the El Monte SS office here in California and wow what a difference. In and out in 15 minutes. Got it fixed no questions asked. Guess it just depends where you go.
I did do something different though, on the form i had squished my two last names together where it says name at birth if different than above. I left that whole thing blank this time and no questions.
