From what I wrote down from my case (mine is pretty recent) they don't update that a BIO letter was sent out.. My timeline (everyone's varies) was this..
Sent out First time application 9/2/14
Received letter from Nebraska that they received my case 9/8/14
Bio appointment letter received 9/20/14

Biometrics 10/6/14
REF 12/18/2014-USCIS received it 12/29/2014
Approved 1/7/2015
AP Approved 12/2016 - AP entry to US 1/1/2017
