Hello, guys. I wanted to share my experience traveling abroad using AP. I applied for advance parole on 1/17 for educational purposes and I was approved 4/21. My whole trip was about two weeks from May 12th-May 26th. Unfortunately, my documents were shipped home on May 10th. I called USCIS to see if I could fly without AP in hand (but already approved) and have someone ship out the documents to South Korea. They said it was okay but that it was up to me to take the risk. I flew May 12th and at one point before the gates were closed, I asked a flight attendant if I could leave the aircraft; I was extremely nervous. A flight attendant told me to just have someone ship out my documents and that everything will be okay. I had a layover in Istanbul and no questions were asked at any point during my trip to South Korea. My passport was stamped when I arrived and I was free to go. During my trip, I was so nervous because my documents were taking long to get home. I was freaking out from time to time but thankfully I received my documents just in time. I asked a relative to ship them with the fasted method possible. I would never recommend anyone to do what I did. The uncertainty of what could have happened was unbearable. Now comes my return back to the US. I arrived at the airport and the agent took a few minutes to issue my boarding pass; I'm assuming she wasn't very familiar with AP but she was very kind. I once again had a layover on Turkey. In Turkey, the agents took a little longer to allow me to board the plane because they were verifying documents once again. When I landed in Miami, I was so nervous and excited to finally be back home. I went through the visitors line and my fingerprints and picture were taken. Then I was escorted to a room for verification of my documents. I was so nervous but thankfully no questions were asked and I got back my passport and my AP stamped. I was so relieved! My experience abroad was amazing, I got to experience a different culture and learn so much about myself and others. I recommend AP to everyone but just know that at times, you will feel uneasy but my best advice is to remain calm. Thank you guys for creating this community; I was so well informed because of you guys. Good luck to everyone traveling using AP!
