I know Apple folks go out of their way for a little bit of vanity that owning something from apple makes them think it provides to them but it'd be a silly way to accidentally lie about your legal status just to get a card that scratches easily and doesn't really benefit you anymore than any other card.

wouldnt think too much about it.. pretty sure all credit card requires that on all apps.
i got Costco, Southwest, etc.. pretty sure they ask that not for immigration purposes but for information/verification and mailing purposes
it asked country of citizenship, i put my country of origin... then asked for an SS# then got approved.
