I had the same thing going on. My permit i got at school just had my paternal last name.
When i went to get a state ID they put in everything that was written on my social security card which was both my dad's last name and my mom's.
Then they gave me a corrected driving permit with my full name on it (paternal and maternal) which is what they're going to use for the license.
Now i'm just waiting to get my license once the 9 months with my permit runs out which will be soon.
